Hello my dears! I'm actually here! Later than promised, but here! I hope you've been well :)
Come join the Artalong in the Knitting Pretty Ravelry group! Pick a peiece (or movement) of art or architecture, and create something inspired by it! All textile arts are encouraged, and the CAL runs from August 1 to September 30.

Show and Tell - Knitting vs Fall/Winter 2014 Trends:
Concepts: Fairytale, postmodern ironic prints, desexualized extravagance, luxury materials in large quantities, texture and colour overload, 60's meets 70's in the 90's, barbarian chic.
European and Middle Eastern ethnic prints and embellishment, handmade chic, bold colours and busy prints.
Rounded shoulders, loose layers that stand away from the body, no skin showing, hiding the body's natural shape
Beading and Embroidery
Heavy on the sparkle. Butterflies (Valentino), animal images, designs felted onto tulle ballgowns (Valentino), bedazzle all the things (Fendi).
Sheer and Lace
Layered heavily over more sheer/lace, or braless and... nipples.
Miniskirts, shift/a-line/swing silhouettes, colour blocking, geometric prints, go-go boots. Waists defined by seaming/colour/texture rather than shaping.
So many animals had to die this fall. So many. Leather shirts. Leather skirts. Leather everything. Mink sweaters. Coyote fur coats. Shearling everywhere. Feather capes and dresses (Alexander McQueen)
Sneakers with high heels, shoelace details on coats (Dior). Luxury sweatpants. Bomber jackets.
Come back next week for part 2....
