Hey folks! Sorry about the whole no-update-last-week thing, Fibrations is almost upon me and I'm hoarding all the freshly dyed stock for the show. I just needed to pop in with some very important shop announcements.

Everything Old has been puttering along for almost a year and a half now, and meeting customers and new friends who share my love of colour and texture and all things woolly has been the best. During this time I've learned some important things, and there are just a few changes I have to make to keep this whole project sustainable. I hope you'll bear with me!

  • As of September 1, I will be rolling out some modest price increases. As a lover of hand dyed yarns and fibre myself, I know how frustratingly expensive indie dyed products can be. I promise you, we dyers are not living large on fat markups. The cost of raw materials has increased several times over the past two years due to worldwide wool and silk shortages, and the labour involved in dyeing and managing every aspect of a small business is intensive and incredibly time consuming. I really appreciate your understanding in this. Laying down $20-$30 on a skein of yarn is a big deal, and I will do my damndest to make sure it's the best skein of yarn it can be!
  • Also as of September 1, I will be closing my Artfire storefront and focusing solely on my Etsy shop. I originally chose Artfire because it fit in my budget, was very user friendly, and seemed less inclined to bury its head in the sand in regards to resellers and copyright issues. Recently though, I realized that if I am looking for something handmade I head to Etsy first and Artfire second because of the sheer number of excellent individual sellers there. Etsy has a great community of shops run by some really lovely and talented dyers and spinners, and I'm happy to be a part of it. Maybe one day I'll have my own website, like a real adult ;)
  • I am discontinuing my "Exceptional" DK weight wool/silk/alpaca base. I love it, people who have felt it love it, but it just doesn't support itself as a product. Sorry! There are a few skeins left if you are in need of the most decadently soft yarn ever!
  • I will soon need test knitters for a sport weight striped crescent shaped shawl design. If you are interested, please contact me through Ravelry (I'm EverythingOldEm). I'm using two contrasting skeins of Malabrigo Arroyo, but I can see it absolutely flourishing in Bugga! Test knitters get a free copy of the final pattern, a special one-time shop discount, and my eternal gratitude!
  • Last but not least, I'll be putting my shops in vacation mode on Friday at the latest to reserve all the stock for Fibrations on Sunday. They'll be back up shortly after that!
Thanks for bearing with me and reading that giant wall of text! I've got the flu right now and when i'm sick and woozy I tend to get a little verbose (which seems ironic, as I have almost completely lost my voice), so I appreciate your perseverance. I hope to see some of you in person on Sunday! Please come say hi, and if I try to respond and no sound comes out, please forgive me :/
